Our calendar is designed to keep you informed and engaged with the various opportunities available to connect, learn, and contribute. There's something for everyone, from educational workshops and community fairs to volunteer opportunities and special celebrations.

Breadbasket Food Pantry distributes free produce, bread, and baked goods to Eastside residents each Monday at Allen Market Place, 1629 E Kalamazoo. Since March 2020, neighbors are welcome to stop by between 9 am – 1 pm to grab a number at the door, then return at 1 pm to claim their spot in line based on their number. If you are unable to get a number before 1 pm, arrive closer to 2 pm to eliminate waiting a long period of time.

The lively Wednesday Senior Discovery Group has been meeting weekly since October 2000 and offers “pretty good coffee and great conversation” to older neighbors from the Eastside and, indeed, from throughout the region. Each weekly gathering features a speaker on a wide range of pertinent and interesting topics.

This group is dedicated to helping individuals with diabetes—and anyone interested in healthier eating—learn to prepare delicious, nourishing meals. Together, we will explore diabetic‑friendly cooking through recipe exchanges, hands‑on cooking experiences, and supportive conversations about managing diabetes through food choices. Our goal is to build confidence in the kitchen while creating a welcoming community focused on wellness and flavorful, balanced eating. RSVP to the coordinator is required to attend. You don’t have to grieve alone. The loss of a baby—whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, neonatal loss, or infant death—can feel isolating, overwhelming, unbearable, and as if you’ve become invisible to the world. In this group, you are invited into a gentle space where your grief is honored, your baby is remembered, and your story is held with tenderness. Together, we create a community of understanding and support, so you don’t have to carry this heartbreak by yourself.

Narcotics Anonymous was established in response to the success of Alcoholics Anonymous. NA is support group for those attempting to recover from drug addiction. other than alcohol. NA was officially founded in Los Angeles in 1953, and has spread to thousands of locations in 129 countries.

The only requirement to become a member of NA is a desire to overcome your addiction. NA groups don’t make a distinction between any type of drug, including alcohol. They also recognize that polysubstance dependence is common. Any person struggling with a substance use disorder (SUD) who wants to recover is welcome.

Learn adult and pediatric CPR, automated external defibrillator (AED), emergency procedures like rescue breathing, and the Heimlich maneuver, and first aid. Upon workshop completion, students receive a course completion card in Adult and Pediatric CPR with AED and first aid. Class is blended learning online part is sent after registration for class. Registration required, class size limited. This class is not appropriate for those needing training for a healthcare field (doctors, dentists, nurses, EMS, etc.).

Don't miss these Free Oral Health Assessments for Older Adults (age 60+)! Each participant will have an oral health assessment, including an Oral Cancer Screening, and receive free oral health aids (toothbrush, toothpaste, denture supplies, dry mouth products, etc.). No appointment necessary! The Senior Smile Survey is supported by the Delta Dental Foundation. By participating in this survey, you will help Michigan learn more about the oral health needs of its Senior Citizens.
